| The Mejean-Perols Lagoon is situated on the French Mediterranean coast. It is a small (747 ha) and shallow (70 cm) lagoon. Some treated effluent from Montpellier flows into this hypereutrophic lagoon. The cartography of C, N and P concentrations in the sediment was studied based on 35 bottom samples. The nitrogen and organic carbon concentrations were more or less homogeneous, the highest concentrations being found in the middle of the lagoon. The phosphate was principally bound onto the sediment in the west zone. The observed distribution was independent of grain size, the distribution of which was rather homogeneous. | L'estuaire de la Penzé (nord-Finistère, France) est le siège de plusieurs dysfonctionnements de type biologique (eutrophisation et contaminations bactériennes) qui nécessitent une bonne connaissance et un suivi des apports d'origine terrigène susceptibles d'influencer ou de provoquer ces phénomènes. Une étude sur ce secteur test a permis la mise au point d'une méthodologie de suivi des apports à l'estuaire. Celle-ci se fait en quatre étapes: 1. | The main problem of the Girond estuary is a pollution by the cadmium. During this last ten years, the good quality of the water is proved by the analysis of the main physico - chemical and biochemical parameters and bacteria. But since 1989, straight to the Blayais power station, the BOD5 varied between 2 and 3,5 mg.l-1 and a diminution of the dissolved oxygen has been observed; it's probably caused by the accumulation of biodegradable organic matter in the maximum turbidity zone during years characterized by low river flows. For average river flow, urban discharges takes part for 20 % in total fluxes of BD05; in 1991, this part attempts 35 %. | Grâce au réseau de surveillance du phytoplancton (REPHY) mis en place en 1984, une importante banque de données s'est constituée. L'étude quantitative et qualitative de la flore observée de 1987 à 1990 dans le bassin d'Arcachon permet de montrer les variations suivantes. En ce qui concerne le phytoplancton, Ces quatre années de sécheresse sont dans l'ensemble pauvres et peu contrastées mais montrent tout de même des schémas saisonniers similaires à ceux décrits par les précédents auteurs. Une alternance est observée avec 1987 et 1989 plus pauvres que 1988 et 1990. 1987 et 1989 sont aussi marquées par une sécheresse plus importante et par conséquent de fortes salinités et de faibles apports en sels azotés. | Nutrient concentrations have been investigated in the Venice lagoon for three scenarios: abnormal growth of nuisance macroalgae, decrease of macroalgal dominance and intense catching of the bivalve Tapes philippinarum Adams and Reeve by means of hydraulic and mechanical dredges. Total nitrogen and organic and total phosphorus monitored in June 1087, 1993 and 1998 showed significant changes both in concentrations and distribution. The disappearance of macroalgal blooms and the starting of intense clam fishing activities affected mainly organic phosphorus concentrations which, between 1987 and 1998, decreased from 104 +/- 42 to 59 +/- 31 mug cm(-3), accounting for 27% (1987) and 16% (1998) of total phosphorus, respectively.
